Every year members of the community come together to collect food to donate to America’s Second Harvest. These donations support our programs and help us to feed our hungry neighbors here in Coastal Georgia. You, too, can help support us on our mission to end hunger by hosting a food drive. Encourage your friends, family, religious organization, company, business, or social club to get involved and participate. Ask your friends to donate food or funds in lieu of gifts at your next party.
A Food Drive is easy as 1-2-3 and goes a long way in helping those in need in your community.
1. Prepare for your drive
Talk to your neighbors, friends, family and coworkers about your food drive. Make flyers or posters. Feel free to print off flyers found on this webpage. Drop by Second Harvest to pick up food donation branded boxes or use a box or container you already have at home. Have fun with it!
2. Conduct your food drive
Ask for foods Second Harvest needs the most- peanut butter, jelly, canned proteins and meats (tuna, chicken, beef stew), soups, canned fruit, canned vegetables, pasta, and rice. You can come up with games or contests for participants. Encourage friendly competition.
3. Conclude your drive
Deliver the food collected to the food bank or call us if your food drive donations are too large to deliver so we can schedule a pick up time. Thank the people who supported your drive!
